In 2008 Dr. James R. Shipley founded Mt. Airy Foot & Ankle Center and has since joined with the InStride Foot & Ankle Specialists group, built a new Mt. Airy office, founded two new locations, and added two new physicians to the team.
Each InStride Foot & Ankle Center is dedicated in providing quality treatment to patients of all ages. Along with specialized training and state-of-the-art technology, kindness and respect for every individual patient is a priority. “We look forward to getting to know you, providing the care you need, and restoring you to activity.”

Northern InStride Foot & Ankle Specialists consists of: InStride Mt. Airy Foot & Ankle Center, InStride Winston-Salem Foot & Ankle Center, and InStride Foot & Ankle Specialists: Clemmons. Dr. James R. Shipley is the founder of Northern InStride Foot & Ankle Specialists and began his first practice, InStride Mt. Airy Foot & Ankle Center in October 2008. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Shipley attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA for his medical training, and completed his residency at Tulane University, Lakeside Hospital in Louisiana.
After almost a decade of successful podiatric care in Mount Airy, Shipley opened a second and third location in Winston-Salem and Clemmons, NC. The 3 practices are joined to form Northern InStride Foot & Ankle Specialists.

Collard’s interests in the practice include sports medicine, painful bunions, deformities of the toes, other foot and ankle pains and sprains, wound care and many others. He desires to help people of all ages stay active and on their feet by providing the best medical care and education possible.

He loves the outdoors, sports, and reading. Dr. Collard lives in the Winston Salem area with his wife and three children.
